Medical Plastic Tubing
Improved performance for disposable applications
- Higher permeation resistance than silicone
- Multi-Lumen tubing
- Bump tubing
- Striped tubing
Plastic tubing is typically used in disposable applications such as medical catheters, IV sets, enteral feeding tubes, irrigation and drainage applications. They are also used in diagnostic instruments and bio-processing fluid transfer.
Materials specific to Healthcare & Medical
Trelleborg Sealing Solutions supplies plastic tubing in most of the common medical materials such as: FEP, Nylon, PVC, PEEK, PTFE and TPE.
About Plastic Tubing
Thermoplastic tubing is formed in an extrusion process where the plastic is melted, pressurized and homogenized by means of a rotating screw. The tubing then solidifies in its final shape as it cools. The tubing is elastic and flexible. The physical properties depend on the resin chemistry, structure, chain length and bond between chains.
